Roula Khalaf '87

Roula A. Khalaf Roula A. Khalaf ’87 is editor of the Financial Times (FT). She was appointed in January 2020 and is FT’s first female editor in their 131-year history. She has been with FT since 1995, where she was deputy editor from 2016 to 2020, overseeing a range of newsroom initiatives and award-winning editorial projects and leading a global network of over 100 foreign correspondents. Roula was named foreign commentator of the year at the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards in 2016, among other awards.

Roula graduated from Syracuse University in 1987 from Newhouse, where she earned a BS in Magazine, News and Digital Journalism. She subsequently earned a MS from Columbia University in International Affairs. Roula attends alumni and development activities for Syracuse University.
